ABOUT THE ARTIST

Her work in pastels demonstrates a point of view and individualistic use of color, creating a unified concept of her subject. Both realist and impressionist influences are apparent in her body of work.

Barb’s portraiture shows sensitive understanding of the individual  (human or animal) stemming in part from having lived as a minority in native villages in Alaska and also French Polynesia. On occasion, she enlists her skills as a photographer of 30 years to capture the expressions of the moment for consideration in depiction of the subject.
